The Beautiful Data

Information visualization is an emerging research field that aims to create comprehensive understanding of abstract data by creating powerful visual metaphors. It is a way that the modern world has learned to cope with incredible amounts of data that we have access to. Information visualization serves a very functional purpose in giving insight to the large amounts of data.

However, this field has been further augmented by the design and art community in which data visualization has become an artistic expression. The term "information aesthetics" describes this blend of creative design and visualizing data. What's so enchanting about this field of creativity is there are no confinements to your subject or data.

So as my first exploration into the world of information aesthetics I have visualized the travelling of a soccer ball during the 1999 UEFA Champions League Final between Bayern Munich and Manchester United.
